Shallomars

The New York Times found time in New York to set a team of top-notch investigative journalists out on the mallomar chase. And then the right-wing "news" show The Colbert Report aired a lengthy segment worth thousands of one dollar bills in production value about the very same marshmallow cookie. I had hoped the Times had covered every side of this deceiptfully complex story, but the investigation has only begun for this little chocolate fluffcake.

Hot to Chaat

Nothing like a nice bowl of chaat for a snack! I had some chaat the other day at this place at midtown and it was very good. But you can get the best chaat in either jackson heights or certain places in New Jersey

Bottlecaps!
i think this is my favorite candy.
they have it sometimes in the snack store at the office.
60 cents buys delicious tooth decay.
except orange - i don't like that flavor.

Snack Party ?
Hey "gang"
While I know some people on this blog, there are others who I have never met. What do you think about all of us getting together sometime soon and having a snack party ? I mean the friends that snack together stay together right ? And think of all the jealous folk who will be salivating when they see our rag tag crew enjoying a multitude of sweets and cole slaw in public....

lone star snacks
when you're from texas, anything that doesn't come with meat in it, on it, or under it, is pretty much considered a snack. but if we're going with the new definition, then there are really only two kinds of snacks in texas: beef jerky and movie theater pickles.

(sorry to disappoint, but this jar is a cheat - it's the one in the hollywood video where i went to rent a movie with my parents when i was home last month. but they look pretty much the same as in the movie theaters nowadays. individually wrapped. and in a way, it's kind of extra good, because you can see that it's a big enough trend to warrant a "replica experience" at the hollywood video.)

I ended a fight with a snack
I was rude to a co-worker on the phone.
I felt bad.
So I took him some tasty salty peanuts.
He's not mad anymore.

On Snacks and Snacking
It has come to my attention that there is a little confusion as to
what can be considered a snack and what can not. Yes, anything can technically be considered a snack but then what is the use of language if we are to use words so loosely ? I think there should be a differentiation between snacks (those food items soley meant as something to eat between meals) and snacking (in which any food item you are using is considered a snack). Coleslaw is not a snack, it is a side. It is also gross. You can snack on coleslaw but that does not make it a snack. Now pass me the chipwich bitch !

snackers without borders
I don't mean to brag, but I went to CANADA last month. It's very European. Anyway, not to name-drop, but my boss Mark Williams IS Canadian and he asked me to bring him some Kit-Kat bars from up north, because apparently they are "less sweet and also less waxy". I chalked it up to his normal Eskimo crazy-talk or whatever but it turns out he is right. I did a little investigating and found out that they are made by Nestle instead of Hersey so they ARE better.
Check it out for yourself. You can get the Euro style ones at Tops in Williamsburg.

Parle G Biscuits

These glucose crackers have always been my favorite since my childhood. They are a staple at every little snack stand in India but are also available at chaat stands (dhabas) around the city. Just look for an overwhelming amount of taxi drivers in front of a place that isn't a garage...

Candy Machine
We have candy machines on every floor in our building. For a quarter you can get a small handful of mike and ike, peanut m&m's or regular m&m's. There is a debate going on - whether or not you get more if you turn the knob fast or slow.

Co-Workers Steal My Snacks
I like to have tasty snacks like Cashews on my desk. My co-workers like to steal them when I leave for the night. Sometimes they buy me more. Once a guy replaced my Planters with Duane Reade brand. That's not cool...
Bubblicious Days Gone By
When I was 8, I used to spend all my allowance on Banana Bubblicious. I would spend hours taking each piece, stretching it out, and licking the sugar off. They don't put sugar in bubblegum anymore. I am going to protest. Meanwhile, check out their crazy-ass site:
